The GECIPQ events include the following: workshops for discussion and sharing, networking, the creation of business opportunities, conferences, special guests, authentic cultural performances, and, first and foremost, making commitments!
The events organized as part of the GECIPQ aim to mobilize a wide range of economic players with a view to meaningfully engaging in economic reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
It is the place to build strong and lasting business relationships and to make commitments that will make a difference.
Presented by the GECIPQ, the Annual Gatherings are networking and business development events that are intended for stakeholders in the movement, as well as businesses and economic players who wish to join the movement and become actively involved in economic reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
Regional Economic Circles are initiated by an Indigenous nation, community, or economic development organization. They bring together Indigenous and non-Indigenous economic and political players from the same region, providing unique networking and business development opportunities. These meetings foster concrete commitments to increase the participation of Indigenous communities and nations in the regional economy.
Local Economic Circles are drivers of community-based economic development. They bring together targeted business partners based on the economic interests and priorities of the host community. These events foster exchanges, strengthen mutual understanding, and encourage the creation of lasting business relationships. They aim to develop promising partnerships, generating tangible and significant socio-economic benefits at the local level.

The launch of the GECIPQ took place over two days in Tio’tia:ke (Montreal) and brought together elected officials and businesspeople from Indigenous peoples and Quebec. The event offered a series of conferences, workshops, and panel discussions focused on the full participation of Indigenous peoples in Quebec’s economy and economic recovery. The event concluded with a joint declaration of commitments.
The Innu community of Mashteuiatsh hosted the first Regional Economic Circle. The event welcomed 250 participants from the Mashteuiatsh business community, several neighbouring Indigenous communities, and economic players from the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region.
The Val-d’Or Interregional Economic Circle was organized by the team of the Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance (SCNATEA). This Circle lived up to its name, as it brought together in one place representatives of four different nations (Anishinabe, Cree, Atikamekw, and Inuit) as well as many businesspeople from the region.
On March 22, 23, and 24, 2023, the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg Nation Tribal Council and the Ville de Gatineau hosted the 2023 Great Gathering, an event encompassing the 3rd Summit of First Nations and Municipalities on Reconciliation and the 3rd Grand Regional Economic Circle of Indigenous Peoples and Quebec. More than 200 Indigenous and municipal economic development players participated while exploring issues related to tourism, the environment, and innovation.
The Société de développement économique de Uashat mak Mani-Utenam (SDEUM) and ITUM hosted the fourth Regional Economic Circle, a landmark event that resulted in nearly 20 commitments for economic reconciliation. Some 40 panelists and 250 participants took part in the event.
Presented by the GECIPQ and warmly hosted by the First Nations Executive Education (FNEE), the 2024 Annual Gathering was a networking event bringing together over 300 participants from the Indigenous and Quebec business communities. The main objective was to pursue and reaffirm the collective commitment to economic, civic, and societal reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in Quebec.
The Conseil de la Nation Atikamekw organized the 5th Regional Economic Circle, an event that brought together key players in the Indigenous and non-Indigenous economy in Trois-Rivières. During this event, 46 commitments were made for economic reconciliation, and 300 people attended.
